Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Yea im gonna scratch that other build i made a thread for. I made up my mind and im gonna go with an SFF build. Its a bit cheaper, and i can use it to LAN. Its much better then carrying around an ArmorPlus series that weighs fully loaded 50 pounds! This one will weight around 17 pounds when im done. Its gonna be leetsauce. Small and powerful. And its cheaper then a laptop, and i hate laptops. So here we go. Its total cost right now is around $1200 compared to the other $1500. Hopefully by the time i build it ( at least 8 weeks) it will drop to around 1k or less for the total in parts. Unless of course i wanna buy better parts that come out then. Case -[link]- Out of all the SFF cases i looked at, this is the smallest one with the most good reviews. And it fits everything i would throw in it. A lil improvision and you can do anything with this case. Mobo -[link]- Out of the 10 i looked at, this was the best. Runs everything i want, and i read some reviews of ppl saying its verys table with the exact PC i wanna build..lol. So thats a plus. Vid Card -[link]- This big mother fucker is affordable and can pump out any game out now at high settings with good frame rates. And i can fit in into the case (barely) lol... I need to take out one of the drive bays and somehow get it in there. Power Supply -[link]- Great PSU. great ratings, great reviews, great reliable company. It has the 6pin adapters i need for the vid card, the power output for it, and its a modular PSU so the cables will be easy to manage for airflow. Processor -[link]- Nuff said. RAM -[link]- Someone said GSkill in the other thread, so fuck it. Im going with them. They got good reviews, and they are made specifically for gaming. $100 for 4gb's DDR2 800? Fuck yea! The mobo can run ddr2 1066, but i heard some rumors that there were issues with that. Its not that much better then ddr2 800... and ddr2 800 is said to run stable.. so why not save $60 and a potential headache and buy the 800...lol Hard Drive -[link]- Self explanatory. Ive been running a 100gb hard drive for 3 years now... Hasnt failed me yet, and i never filled it. Thsi one is perfect for me. DvD Drive -[link]- Gonna need this lol. So what you guys think? Any suggestions and feedback would be much appreciated. I dont want to push over $1200... so dont list higher performing parts... If possible, list better similar parts or whatever. I dont need a sound card, as i will be using headphones with this build. Im keeping my current Desktop for home use, and just throwing in a 9600GT... its cheap and way better then my current 7600GT. Its a temp card for the most part. |

only thing I would change is the video card. seems like for the money you can pumpo out way more then what that has to offer. Even one of the reviews said, yeah, it's an amazing card, but it doesnt deserve the 9-series title. Even if you dont get another video card... that computer is beastly, and makes me want to upgrade miserably ![]() btw, with that DVD-R CD-RW etc etc drive, If I bought that could I put that into my dell? I need that SO bad, and you reminded me to look into it. so would that be possible? |

I hate this thread. Due to the fact that I can't even consider building a new comp at the moment due to money being tied up completely. However, that computer is sexy glitch. If I had the money I would build it, but alas, I don't so I have to start saving and browsing for parts. |

You can buy that and put it into your dell. DvD drives and CDrw drives can go into mostly any computer. As long as you connect it via IDE or Sata and have at least one 4 pin power adapter, then yes you can do it. And that video card is very good. The only other one i could buy would be the 8800GTX Ultra, and thats still $500. So im saving 150-200 bucks and still getting max gfx out of any game out there now. So getting an Ultra would kind of be pointless right now... But dont forget, im sure more 9 series cards will be coming out within the next 8 weeks that will "deserve" the 9 series title. |

I need that SO bad, and you reminded me to look into it. so would that be possible? Well the 9800 (G92) isnt considered worthy of the 9000 series name by most reviewers because most reviewers are stupid. The G92 is the 9000 but reviewers dont consider the 9800 worthy of the 9000 because the g92 was also used in the 8800. It was stupid of nvidia but what they did was they released the 8000 series on the G80 core but then did a refresh of the products to the G92 core instead of releasing the whole new series... so now you have the G80 8800 GTS (the one with 320 mb ram or 640mb ram) and the G92 8800 GTS (the one with 512)and the 8800 GT which is also G92. Now the G92 core was originally supposed to be the 9000 series hense the "G9" equating to Gefore 9000. However because of the refresh of the 8000 series with the G92.. when they actual 9000 series was released with its proper G92 core it became pointless because you can get a 8800 GTS G92 that beats the 8800 GTX (g80) in alot of benchmarks because essentially the G92 of the 8800 GTS is the 9800 "GT" not quite the GTX because the GTX has more ram, faster ram and more texture bandwidth. There is why you should just get the 8800 GTS with the G92 core instead of the 9800 GTX. You are paying for a new core but getting one that is available for the price of the old core. Makes more sense to get the same core at the lower price point does it not? Everything else makes sense except for the G.Skill. G.Skill is the poor mans ram. For good quality ram that OCs like a bitch you want Crucial Ballistix. 800 mhz ram from them runs stable at well over 1000mhz. Its basicly the same price anyway.. i just picked up 2 more gigs for 80$ at a local pc store. Edited Mon Apr 28 2008, 01:23AM |
