Today is the 40th anniversary of the PC mouse! The very first mouse was revealed on December 9th 1968 in California. It actually made of wood with wheels and a cord. The word "mouse" was coined due to the cord, resembling a mouse's tail. Though the wooden mouse was a momentous step to building the technology we have today, mouses didn't become popular until the 80's when Xerox made a commercial trackball mouse. It became even more popular when the Microsoft and Apple corporations started using the technology.  Why is this so important? The mouse was one of the greatest instruments for gaming technology, could you imagine playing games without your mouse? Edited Tue Dec 09 2008, 04:23PM |

Mice will be shit within 5 years. we'll have shit like, motion detecting lasers to sense motion and directing it into intellectual movement, and we'll have touchscreens ERRWHERE!!! Happy Anniversary for honestly the coolest design I've seen (ever seen the inside of a mouse? it's fucking cool how they came up with the trackball, let ALONE the laser mouse, fucking sweet!) |
