| Duo vs. Quad | ||

Ok, so i am currently in the process of trying to build my own computer and while searching for processors i came across these two link on newegg. The Duo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115002 The Quad http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017 When comparing prices i noticed that the better processor, the quad, has a lower price tag. Does anyone know why this is? and which one should i get? Thanks for any help. |

k teh dual has a clock speed of 2.66 compared to the quads 2.4 basically the dual is faster, with less available core opertaions to complete. but u can easily overclock the quad and get it to outperform the dual go with the quad. |

GOD gtfo. Go with the core2duo. Yes the quad can be OC'd, but why on earth would you do that and risk kiling your expensive processor. If it blows, you will lose your Mobo and RAM with it. AND it will not be replaced because OCing voids the warranty. The Quad has 4 processors in one...(cores). BUT it gets bottlenecked. Its for MULTITASKING. If your the one who has aol, aim, xfire, limewire, WoW, source, Firefox, and Media player open at the same time then get the Quad. Otherwise dont. The Intel Core2Duo runs COOLER and it out performs the Quad. You can have limewire, aim, xfire, media player and play source at the same time and run cool and fast with this baby. Plus core2duo seems to have less problems in general then the quad. Go with the Core2duo. Trust me. P.S. Think about it. Price tells you everything. You get what you pay for. Why do you think the quad cores were twice the price as core2duo's when they first came out. Now they are cheaper or around the same price? The duo's r better. Edited Sun Oct 21 2007, 06:59PM |

glitch ur gay overclocking doesnt risk the motherboard, ram, or processor. if you do it right its like saying DONT GO OVER 30 MPH OR YOU'LL DIE! get the quad its more future proof, it can be oc'd very easily to outperform the c2d, and its cheaper. quad > c2d |

Glitch. before you make a post like that, I suggest you do some research into overclocking so you actually know what you're talking about. Maybe read some articles on -[link]-, or even copy and paste that post you made here, and see what people say about it. |

I still say C2D. BTW, if you want to OC, make sure u know what your doing. Increasing voltage, enough, but not too much. My friend OCd his quad. He messed up. His cpu started smoking. He increased the voltage to high. Thus his system cought fire and he lost the mobo and vid card. I made that post going by experience. Edited Sun Oct 21 2007, 09:55PM |

wtf, he had a shitty psu, or shitty mobo then if your oclocking use good motherboards and powersupplies. overclocking is as safe as anything if you do it slowly, and right. trying to oc from 2.4 to 3.4 isnt going to work out too good especially if your inexperienced. i suggest just ocing it to 2.6-2.8 and there, you got a faster chip, and cheaper one too. |

If you go for the dual core, get the E6750 at least. Its basically the same, if not better, and under $200. I'm not sure why the E6700 is priced so high, it use to be about $200. The real choice should be between the Q6600 and the E6850. Same price. Don't get a worse cpu for more money. | ||
