DISCUSSION: Mr. Skittles in FT

nostie, Tue Aug 21 2012, 12:30AM

I think this little guy has shown a tremendous amount of dedication to our servers and to the clan. He's not a great player, but he has just about the most hours of anyone on all of the servers. He's a good little kid with good intentions.

THIS IS NOT A VOTE OR PROPOSAL.

Please sound off on what you think of Mr. Skittles below. I'll nominate him in three days after everyone gets to say what they have to say.

(I know knight's proposal hasn't passed but there's no rule against me starting a discussion anyway... TEST DRIVE TIME)

He's got a mouth on him if I'm thinking of the right person.

I've seen him around--he's got the second most hours on the GO server which immediately gives me a semi.

It might be a good idea if we get in the habit of posting links to forum user pages, so people can see join date, post count, penis size, etc. From that page there is a link to look at all forum posts by that user, which should be reviewed if you are not familiar with this person and/or have not played CS with him.

You may also consider posting a link to gameME player pages (Source and GO) so people can see hours, or whatever other hours tracking site FTS is using (gametracker?)

I was going to nom him. He's been with us since before FTC disbanded. idk, in my book, if you were around for the revival of the clan, you're in automatically.

He's been around for a long time. I would vote for him. On one condition: He needs to get a headset

I don't know.

He's been around and he's therapist's cousin iirc. He plays a lot and populates the servers, which are both good things. There's loyalty there and some projection (to use a baseball term) to what he may become as a member.

However, more pressing in my mind is that he never takes his finger off the mic button, he irked me in surf by repeatedly spawn attacking and ignoring my warnings, and he's a little immature. Granted, he's 16.

At this point, I would say no. I would like to see more of him without noticing him so much. I want him to grow up a little bit, or at least act like he has to fool me.

And by the way, I do dig this idea when I've seen it in action.

I think linking the posts/server hours is a great idea for nominations. Good job.

And i like the kid. I see him playing all the time. I would like to see him be more active on forums but it is fine for now.

And Knights proposal is invalid. But this thread is not as there is no rule against discussing votes first. Personally, i feel making it a rule for a discussion first is pointless. If someone cares about their nominee passing the vote then they can take it upon themselves to create a discussion thread as you have. I tip my hat to you sir.

Interesting info. Thanks for giving us something to think about.

One other thing that I forgot to link to, and a I suggest we do this when discussing all potential new FT members, is the introduction post by the potential member: -[link]-

He has an avatar... ?

EDIT: I imagine you're talking about that he has no image in his profile. He does have an avatar for the site, though.

Not only does he talk a lot, he also doesn't have a headset. So when he talks whichever game sound comes through his speakers rapes our ears.

I agree with bandito, if he lays off the mic a bit and gets a headset he is a shoe in.

Not to be a dick but the whole reason I joined this clan is because it says right on the fucking server name 18+ And I think we should keep to that for the most part.

There have been plenty of members not 18 when they got in. Kcow, Buddha, knight, etc.

It might have happened before but it was exceptions because of maturity level(I hope).

Just saying if people are questioning maturity AND hes under 18 I see no reason to vote yes.

A huge portion of people were part of FT much younger than 18+. Most of us just turned 20-21 and we joined the clan 4 years ago. Yes, maturity is a big part of it however most of us were immature, in a fun way. The "elders" seemed to deal with it fine.

I got into F7 before I was 18 but FT was a different story. I enjoy the heightened maturity now, although there is still a lot of bickering

I was 13 when I joined F7L5 (back in the days of a tryout), and 14 when I joined FT i think. I'm not proud of my immaturity back then, but if I can get in, I don't think there should be an issue of skittles getting in. I never knew he was that young before when playing with him. I think he passes the 18+ maturity level with ease, and so what if he's on the mic too much? It's there for a reason. sv_voiceenable 0. Theres plenty of other FT members who are on the mic all the time. Why is this even a big deal? There is no question about his dedication, and if we are trying to jump start the clan again by bringing in new members, why not bring in someone who's actually been around for a while?

lol really? 18+ is an issue? Please... if it were up to me i would invite my 10 year old cousin.
