NoSkill got hit by a virus

Took me 4 reformatting tries to get the right combination of drivers that actually allowed me PC to connect to the internets w/o freezing.
Tip. MB drivers & Graphic drivers all at the same time THEN restart & install Internet Software & Windows Updates. Any other combination will make your CPU shit itself (mine anyway)
So I'm about a few hours away from being back up to speed.
Gotta go home, finish Winupdate, get Symantec & Malicious Software Remover back on... then steam, Adobe CS3, Office & IE settings.
That's pretty much it.
Reformatting is fun though, my CPU runs so fast lol.

I don't know what virus I got but I'm almost positive I got it from one of OVGuide.com's links to movies.
I hit the movie link & activex flashed, then my firewall turned itself off (hmm that's strange). Turned my firewall back on, did a virus sweep, nothing found... hmm... now I'm getting a little suspicious, do a winupdate, find an update & restart.
Upon restart everything seems fine until I open Internet Explorer. All of my saved log ons were removed (as if i deleted cookies, which I didn't). Then next thing I know the text size on my screen was fucked up... it was like I was changing the text display size for web pages per page (I wasn't). Then the icing on the cake was Google, I would do a search and then no matter what link I clicked on it sent me to a BUY SHIT FROM US NOW site. (ok I'm fucked I realize)
So now I go to spysweeper.com & buy spysweeper thinking I could wipe this. Do a full sweep & fucking red lights start flashing, it found some bullshit adware like 7 copies, normal stuff from porn sites & gambling sites, normal cookie shit.
Then it found TROJAN*something*something*. Alert level 4 stars. (fuck I say to myself)
I hit quarantine to remove it & it goes away. Ah *phew*. Next thing I know as I'm closing spy sweeper my PC fucking shits the bed, it starts churning like it's using all of the system resources, lags up totally & stays frozen like that.
I watch in the background as windows explorer disappears, leaving me staring at spy sweeper and I'm just basically saying fuck over and over.
Restart, powering up, it gets to the screen before Windows XP & it restarts... goes into continuous restart cycle... so I say fuck it and reformat.
And there you have it...

Honestly, when you need something, torrent it. It's not that big of a deal to have it RIGHT when you reformat. you'll get it when you need it
