This pertains to people living outside of the U.S. Recently (or not) there has been a knock-off version of Absinthe sold in America under the name "Absente" which has the same formula but replaced the Wormwood with Souther Wormwood. Which in effect entirely eliminated the content of the banned chemical Thujone. Which... is of course if you're trying to buy Absinthe in the first place the only reason you would want the green swill. So, in my quest to get fucked up I am looking for someone to potentially buy me some Absinthe and mail it to me. I of course am willing to pay for it. But I have some questions. What Absinthe is the best to buy if I'm strictly looking for a Van Gogh type experience? (I may or may not cut my ear off) Where does it come from and how much is it? What's the best way to get you your money? I plan on shipping everything (including the money) via UPS. I have a business UPS account which will allow easy tracking and delivery. I would prefer to do this with someone from Canada (it seems to be the least restricted country). Also I'm more comfortable keeping everything on the ground. Is there any experienced Absinthe drinkers who can shed some light? Be it on where to purchase, what type to purchase, what to expect or any other suggestions that may be helpful? man.. absinthe was crazy lol, three shots and ur gone XD i had a shot with a friend, but he has like 5, crazy guy. He brought it to U.S. but obviously sneaked it somewhere in the bag or something and it was a blast, i felt so dizzy from that one... Anyway since absinthe is 70% alcohol, i wouldn't feel left out to drink that 75% one, looks cool. Sry i can't help you get absinthe, though. But I'll ask my friend if there is some way. |

When I was in Germany, there was absinthe in just about every liquor store. If you wanted the legit bottle (70% alcohol  ) they ran for about 75$. Also they had these restraunts called "Biergarten" that sold "green fairy" which was absinthe mixed with sugar water (you can't drink it straight cause it's too strong). However, every day when absinthe was available to me, I was hung over and ready to puke at the sight of alcohol. So I never got to actually try it.Now I'm kicking myself for that and I'd be interested in trying it too if you actually find a way to get it into the country. P.S. the site you posted looks like a scam to me. they post the price in US dollars, but nowhere do they mention that they actually ship to the US, or the fact that you have to be 21 to order. Also the "Cannabis Vodka" sent up a red flag to me, seeing how cannabis is quite illegal here... Edited Wed Dec 12 2007, 08:18PM |

They do mention that you can ship to the US and when I called them they answered and sounded legit. THey mention that it is illegal to Sell and Buy Absinthe in the U.S. but it's not illegal to possess it or purchase it outside the U.S. I might make a small $40 order and see if I get it, if I do I'll buy the 750ml bottle. As for the Cannabis Vodka it has like seeds in the bottle or some shit... sounds stupid if you ask me. |

ok having had lots of experience with absinthe (real ones) thujone isnt the reason to get absinthe. you dont get any effects from it, if you think you will YOUR A DUMBASS its like trying to smoke levi's cause they got hemp in them. absinthe though gives you a clear headedness when drunk. and overall very good my recomendations- pernord fills |

From what I've read in the experience reports at Erowid, the hallucinogenic effects of Absinthe are greatly exaggerated. Although in many cases are tangible. My question, is what causes these effects and how do I make sure that what I get will facilitate said effects. Granted I've done most psychedelics in existence and I'm not expecting to see god here, however from base level I can usually notice even the most subtle mental state alterations. Besides to be surrounded by as much myth, hype and folklore as Absinthe is, it CANNOT (by social proof) be entirely ordinary. In other words, why aren't people writing pages about their magical experiences with Bicardi 151 or Everclear... So while you may not agree Thujone is indeed an active psychoactive in Absinthe. its not a hallucangenic drink all the herbs, and shit in it just give you what i describe as "clear headed drunkness" or "everything becomes wavy" and use my experience and by pernord fills. nothing else. |

Note - its illegal to brew Absinthe with Thujone in USA, however it IS legal to bring it into the country, so you're more than free to go to Canada on your own and buy it. The best kind is German, followed by Italian. Anything else is essentially a rip off (from what research I've done and what I've seen). | ||
