Emo isn't about how gritty you can scream, now hardcore and epic your gutair can sound, or how sad your lyrics can be. It's about expressing WHATEVER emotion very heavily through your music. Some bands that are VERY good at this are as follows. Some of them are classic emo, light, soft, calming. Some are louder, but get the message and emotion across. I guarantee you have never heard of them (okay, maybe a couple). American Football (/spooge) Make Believe (/spooge) Scapegoat (/spooge) Cursive (/spooge) Panic at the Disco (I know you've heard of) Bright Eyes Denison Witmer Fear Before the March of Flames (Old albums, not the newest one). Mewithoutyou My Morning Jacket (some country influences) [best song is "I will be there when you die"] Something Corperate (iknowyou'veheardof) The Get Up Kids Hot Water Music The Scene Aesthetic (/spooge) The Spill Canvas (ehhh) Tokyo Rose (namely only for this song: tokyo rose - I Love You Too) I know there's more, but I'm just thinking more about the essay I have to write right now. I could have thrown in all the pop-punkemoscreamo bands that we all know and all love, but you guys already did that for me. I put Panic at the Disco in to see who would catch it. JUST KIDDING ABOUT THEM. |
